Afternoon All,

We'll the drama of the Play-Off/Relegation Games is over and I'm ecstatic to say that 'we survived'. I'm not sure how I could have walked into the club, looked the "legends of the club" in the face, had we not succeeded. Now it's not an issue, short term...!

The purpose of this e-mail is to thank each and everyone one of you for your support throughout the year. Your continued support we in/week out to both the Coaching Staff, Players and the Club as a whole, has been nothing short of fantastic. Continually our numbers to watch each week have exceeded those at our rival clubs. Something you should be very proud of and I thank you sincerely.

Some personal highlights for me, as the year transpired:

The development of the youngsters like Adrian Lawler, Aaron Marney, Anthony Rhodes, Cameron Lucas, Kye McQueen and Phil Curran (just to name a few) both as soccer players and individuals.

The best crowd support in the league. Definitely the best supported club by far. Awesome!

Excellent recruits obtained in Jason Dawes and Mohand Rhani (for example) joining our club, great players for the clubs future.

Participating in and being successful in the Hudson Cup (Runners Up).

Having the support of the players each and every Tuesday/Thursday night at training. On our quietest night we had 18 at training, averaging around 22-24 most nights. Never seen before at Metro. I've been at training in years gone by when we've had 6 at training (including the coach).

Not losing one player from last years teams (apart from Matty 'O' - long term injury and Duncan Balmer - interstate).

The improvement of our under 19 side has been phenomenal, a credit to "Roobs", Chaffey and the lads playing.

And finally to Paul Chisholm, who by reinstating the Socials to the club has provided further entertainment, friendship and further stability to our great club. Paul, great job...!

I would personally like to thank Sheep and the committee for there ongoing support over the last two years, everything that we as teams requested to put the team on the park each week, was provided, with no interference in terms of the selection of teams each weekend, something I know doesn't occur at most other clubs. The confidence in letting Roobs, Chaffey and I deal with the soccer issues in effect has provided a very strong relationship between the coaching group and the committee. Never experienced before in my playing days.

With Anne continually tightening the purse strings, financially, the hard work undertaken by the committee over the last few years will result in the club benefiting both on and off the park in years to come. Something Metro FC deserves more than any other club. Something that all other clubs are envious of.

During the course of the year, the numbers at training have been huge. Un-officially I would guess we have had approximately 40+ plus players pull on a guernsey at some stage this year in either the Under 19's, Reserves or Seniors. The effort or every player at both training and on the park match days, has been a credit to all concerned. With continued focus, who knows what you can achieve.

To Webster, Lippy and Paul Rubenach, again a fantastic level of support has been provided. All three Senior squads could not have asked for better assistance both on and off the park. Your value to the playing side of the club cannot be underestimated. We thank you very much.

To Roobs, Chaffey, Johnny Clements and Sheep. No words can express my gratitude for your support this year. Not only have you guys been extremely supportive through the good times and the bad on the park but you have also have continued to be great mates, something we shared with "Granddad" and something that "Granddad" would be missing greatly. I can't thank you enough.

Roobs and Chaffey in particular. The countless e-mails, differences of opinion, reality checks had between us, a bloke couldn't have had better support coaches. The success of the Under 19's is a credit to you Roobs (great development of the young guys), as is the difference you made Chaffey to the Senior Squad whilst having a dual role as Reserve Coach and the development of Rhodesy, Dawesy and co.

Finally, to my girls. The late nights, the frustrations that limited success provide, the missed games I couldn't watch, continual nights down at the club, nervousness before a game and frustration after, things that make a moody bastard even worse. Your patience and support couldn't be better, second to none. Thank You Angela, Kalinda & Chloe - My three best mates, I couldn't ask for anymore.

Again thanks to you all, I have certainly appreciated your ongoing support over the last two years and I look forward to catching up with you soon whilst we enjoy the seasons end.

Gassy.
